CAN I USE $USD'S HERE?

Yes! Both countries use dollars; however, depending on the exchange rate and where you decide to spend your dollars, you may not get the best rate.

WHERE CAN I EXCHANGE CURRENCY?

We recommend exchanging a good amount of money in your home country in order to get the best exchange rate, but you can also exchange money at the airport and in the towns of Sayulita and Puerto Viejo. (Note that Mexico uses pesos/dollars and Costa Rica uses colones/dollars).

IS IT SAFE IN SAYULITA/PUERTO VIEJO?

Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico: This little pueblo is super safe and crime rates remain low. We love our Sayulita group made up of locals and expats!

Puerto Viejo, Limon, Costa Rica: The community we have here is amazing and although we don’t recommend bringing tons of cash, credit cards, or valuables around with you at night, PV is also safe.

DO I NEED TO BE FLUENT IN SPANISH?

Not at all. While knowing a few Spanish phrases will be helpful to you, in both locations you can get by with English, and all of our guides speak, write, and read in both Spanish and English. For your benefit, we will send you a list of helpful Spanish phrases/words from both Mexico and Costa Rica prior to your departure.

HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE IN MY GROUP?

The number of people in your group may fluctuate due to the season and demand. You can expect anywhere from 3 to 11 other women.

DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SURF?

Nope! We would love the opportunity to teach you in one of our two favorite locations. Both areas have beginner waves and, for those of you who can shred, many of the beaches surrounding Sayulita and Puerto Viejo have intermediate and advanced waves as well.

CAN I DRINK THE WATER?

In both countries, drinking the tap water is strongly discouraged; however, there is plenty of bottled drinking water for purchase and filtered drinking water is available with your accommodations.

IS THERE WIFI AT MY HOSTEL/HOTEL?

We totally get the need to be connected while abroad, so wi-fi will always be provided with your accommodations. In addition, it can typically be found at most local establishments.
